Key Qualifications:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Previous experience working with children or adolescents who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication methods utilized within Deaf education
  • Strong collaboration skills for working alongside teachers, support staff, and families
  • Ability to adapt instructional strategies to meet the unique learning needs of each student
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and promoting a positive, supportive educational atmosphere

Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized instruction and support to Deaf/Hard of Hearing students across the district in individual and group settings
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop and adapt curriculum materials for accessibility
  • Assess student progress and tailor interventions or accommodations as needed
  • Consult with school teams and families to implement effective communication strategies
  • Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and contribute to the development of educational goals
  • Serve as a resource for staff, offering training and guidance on best practices for supporting students with hearing differences
