Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Previous experience working with children or adolescents who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication methods utilized within Deaf education
- Strong collaboration skills for working alongside teachers, support staff, and families
- Ability to adapt instructional strategies to meet the unique learning needs of each student
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and promoting a positive, supportive educational atmosphere
Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction and support to Deaf/Hard of Hearing students across the district in individual and group settings
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop and adapt curriculum materials for accessibility
- Assess student progress and tailor interventions or accommodations as needed
- Consult with school teams and families to implement effective communication strategies
- Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and contribute to the development of educational goals
- Serve as a resource for staff, offering training and guidance on best practices for supporting students with hearing differences
