Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
- Hold Illinois state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Previous experience working in K-12 school settings
- Strong understanding of Deaf culture, language development, and assistive technologies
- Ability to adapt curriculum to meet individual student needs
- Skilled in collaboration with general education staff, families, and related service providers
- Effective communicator to serve as both instructor and advocate
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement tailored instructional strategies for students who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Evaluate students’ academic progress and adjust supports as needed
- Consult with teachers and staff on best practices for inclusive classroom environments
- Support IEP (Individualized Education Program) development and progress monitoring
- Provide resources and training to staff and families on communication modalities and technology
- Foster positive, supportive relationships with students and encourage self-advocacy
