Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
- Proven experience working as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in school settings
- Strong understanding of individualized educational plans (IEPs)
- Ability to assess student needs and implement specialized instructional strategies
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with teachers, staff, and families
- Commitment to supporting an accessible, supportive classroom environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, tailoring lessons to individual learning goals
- Collaborate with general education teachers and service providers to adapt curriculum and classroom materials
- Facilitate the use of assistive listening devices and technology for students, ensuring effectiveness and comfort
- Serve as a resource for staff on accommodations and best practices in supporting students’ communication needs
- Monitor and document student progress, participate in IEP meetings, and adjust instruction based on collected data
- Foster a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages self-advocacy and growth
