Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid Illinois DHH Educator Certification is required
- Demonstrated experience working as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Strong understanding of itinerant teaching models and support strategies
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Adaptability and commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services to students with hearing differences across multiple school sites
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) focused on hearing accessibility and academic goals
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, speech-language pathologists, and school staff to integrate accommodations and specialized instructional strategies
- Foster advocacy, self-determination, and independence in students
- Partner with families to ensure continuity of support and share resources for optimal student success
- Maintain accurate records, progress reports, and clear documentation per district and state guidelines
