Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Valid Illinois DHH Educator Certification is required
  • Demonstrated experience working as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Strong understanding of itinerant teaching models and support strategies
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Adaptability and commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and consultative services to students with hearing differences across multiple school sites
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) focused on hearing accessibility and academic goals
  • Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, speech-language pathologists, and school staff to integrate accommodations and specialized instructional strategies
  • Foster advocacy, self-determination, and independence in students
  • Partner with families to ensure continuity of support and share resources for optimal student success
  • Maintain accurate records, progress reports, and clear documentation per district and state guidelines
