Shape the future for students with hearing differences by stepping into a dynamic support role for the upcoming school year as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Itinerant Teacher. Full-time, onsite position involves working with students in multiple educational settings, providing critical expertise and advocacy from August 3, 2026, through May 21, 2027. You will collaborate closely with fellow educators and families, empowering learners and advancing their communication and academic skills.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Hold valid Illinois Deaf/Hard of Hearing Educator Certification
- Background in teaching deaf or hard of hearing students in K–12 settings
- Strong knowledge of auditory devices, communication modalities, and accessibility strategies
- Skilled in adapting curriculum, providing individual or small-group instruction, and supporting IEP goals
- Clear communicator who builds positive rapport with students, staff, and families
- Organized, flexible, and able to travel between sites as needed
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to deaf or hard of hearing students based on individualized needs
- Consult with teachers and support staff to implement accommodations and best practices
- Develop, monitor, and adjust IEP goals in partnership with multidisciplinary teams
- Provide training and resources to school staff and families on hearing loss accommodations
- Maintain records and progress reports, ensuring compliance with federal and state guidelines
- Facilitate positive, inclusive learning environments in all assigned schools
