Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (TDHH)
- Experience or strong interest in working with children with hearing differences
- Solid understanding of specialized communication methods including American Sign Language (ASL), auditory/oral approaches, or total communication
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills for working with staff, families, and other service providers
- Commitment to individualized educational plans and inclusive learning environments
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, utilizing individualized strategies to promote access and achievement
- Collaborate with general education teachers and related staff to adapt curriculum, modify classroom environments, and integrate visual/communication supports as needed
- Participate in IEP meetings, student progress reviews, and ongoing parent/guardian communications
- Advocate for the needs of students and share insights to further team understanding of best practices
- Monitor and document student progress toward educational goals
