Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher - Stuart, Florida
Make a difference on Florida's beautiful southeast coast by supporting students as an itinerant Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. In this full-time, onsite contract role, you'll play an essential part in the educational journey of K-12 students across multiple schools, helping them access curriculum and reach their potential.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Florida Department of Education (DOE) certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing.
- Prior experience as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, preferably with itinerant, K-12, or multi-site caseloads.
- Ability to collaborate with teachers, families, and interdisciplinary teams to support individualized education plans.
- Proficiency in assisting with Functional Listening Evaluations (FLEs), Usher screenings, and collecting audiological evaluations.
- Must be able to complete fingerprinting requirements for school employment (with possibility of utilizing DOH prints, streamlining the process).
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative DHH services to students from kindergarten through high school, fostering language and academic skills.
- Travel between multiple assigned campuses to meet the diverse needs of your caseload.
- Assist with functional assessments, including FLEs and audiological screening processes, across the district.
- Ensure proper documentation and upload of evaluation results into the PEER system.
- Support school staff and families in creating inclusive environments and effective learning strategies for DHH students.
- Stay current on best practices and regulatory requirements in the field.
