A part-time opportunity is available for a dedicated professional to work as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in the Hammond, IN area. This contract position runs from mid-August through late May and offers the flexibility to provide services either virtually or on site.
In this role, you'll be working 12-15 hours per week with a caseload of 15-20 students. Instruction will take place in either 1:1 or small group settings, focusing on both academic and communication needs. You'll play a crucial role in the development of IEPs, serve as a case manager, and support the use of assistive technology for optimal student participation and progress. Regular progress monitoring and collaboration with staff and families will be essential parts of your responsibilities.
Desired Qualifications:
- Licensure or credential to teach Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in the state of Indiana (or eligibility to obtain)
- Experience supporting students with hearing loss in school-based settings
- Familiarity with IEP creation, implementation, and monitoring
- Strong skills using assistive listening devices and related technology
- Comfortable providing services virtually (VOCO) or onsite as needed
- Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills
Responsibilities:
- Deliver instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, either one-on-one or in small groups
- Develop, update, and manage IEPs, ensuring compliance and best practices
- Monitor student progress and adjust interventions to meet learning goals
- Provide training and ongoing support for assistive technology
- Foster positive relationships with students, families, and school staff
