You’ll work approximately 30 hours per week with two bright learners: an incoming high school student and a rising 5th grader, both seeking specialized instruction in American Sign Language and related services.
Required Qualifications:
- Current teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing or appropriate state credential
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience providing direct instruction and accommodations to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Ability to tailor educational approaches for students ranging from upper elementary to high school level
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Passion for fostering a positive and accessible learning environment
Role Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver individualized lesson plans utilizing ASL for both students, based on their grade levels and specific learning needs
- Conduct ongoing assessments and adjust instructional strategies as needed to promote student success
- Collaborate closely with general education teachers, school staff, and families to support inclusive access and communication
- Advocate for and implement appropriate accommodations and modifications
- Maintain accurate documentation of progress and services provided
- Serve as a resource and support for staff and peers regarding Deaf or Hard of Hearing education best practices
