As a contract Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, you’ll work on-site, traveling to various schools and locations, providing essential support to a diverse caseload of approximately 30 students.
You’ll participate in collaborative educational teams, supporting not just students but also teachers and families as you help create accessible, inclusive learning environments. Some students use Cochlear implants, so experience or a willingness to learn about assistive and adaptive technology is highly valued.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- California Credential for Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility)
- Prior experience working with Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in a school setting preferred
- Familiarity with language development, auditory/oral approaches, sign language, and technology including cochlear implants
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to travel throughout the county as required
- Flexible, solution-oriented mindset with a commitment to student growth
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve a caseload of approximately 30 students, meeting their individual needs
- Develop and implement specialized instructional programs
- Consult with general education staff to adapt curriculum and techniques
- Support IEP development and attend meetings
- Provide guidance to families and staff on best practices for student advancement
- Utilize and support the use of assistive listening devices and Cochlear implants
- Manage travel schedule to serve multiple locations as needed (35 hours/week)
