Pediatric Certified Teacher of the Deaf in Long Beach, CA
This full-time teaching role is designed for a certified Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, working with pediatric students from kindergarten through 12th grade. The position is based in Long Beach, CA, within a school setting, and is open to candidates willing to travel. The focus is on delivering specialized instruction that meets the unique needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing tailored instruction to support the educational development of students with hearing impairments
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Employing assistive technologies and diverse communication strategies to enhance learning
- Regularly monitoring student progress and adjusting teaching methods accordingly
- Offering support and training to families and school staff to improve communication and understanding
- Maintaining comprehensive documentation and reporting in compliance with school policies and state regulations
Qualifications:
- Certification specifically for teaching students who are deaf or hard of hearing, or an equivalent credential
- Proven experience in creating accessible learning environments for students with hearing impairments
- Strong proficiency in communication methods such as American Sign Language (ASL), lip reading, or auditory-verbal techniques
