Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH)
- Demonstrated experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in educational settings
- Deep understanding of diverse communication modalities, including American Sign Language (ASL), auditory-oral, or total communication approaches
- Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work alongside teachers, parents, and multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Dedication to fostering inclusive, supportive learning environments
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative services for students identified as Deaf or Hard of Hearing in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Implement evidence-based instructional strategies that meet individualized student goals and promote language development
- Partner with general education teachers, specialists, and families to adapt curriculum and classroom environments
- Monitor, assess, and document students’ progress, contributing to IEP meetings and student planning
- Provide guidance and resources for staff and families to support accessible learning
- Advocate for students’ needs and help foster self-advocacy skills
