Key Qualifications:
- Valid credential in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education or eligibility for certification as required.
- Previous teaching experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modalities.
- Strong collaboration skills to work with students, their families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs.
- Excellent organizational and documentation abilities.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in individual and group settings.
- Adapt curriculum and materials to ensure accessibility and engage different learning styles.
- Collaborate with general education teachers and school staff to foster an inclusive classroom environment.
- Conduct assessments and participate in IEP meetings, contributing specialized expertise to develop appropriate learning objectives.
- Advocate for access to assistive technologies and necessary accommodations.
- Support families and offer resources to ensure student success both in and out of the classroom.
