Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or eligibility for state licensure
- Experience working with children in educational settings, preferably with Deaf/Hard of Hearing populations
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
- Familiarity with various modes of communication, including American Sign Language (ASL), spoken English, or auditory/oral approaches
- Ability to develop and adapt lesson plans to meet individual student needs
- Commitment to collaboration with educators, parents, and support staff
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with hearing loss according to educational plans
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive, individualized support
- Assess students’ progress and communicate results with families and colleagues
- Adapt curriculum materials and learning environments to maximize accessibility and participation
- Offer strategies and in-service training to classroom teachers and staff
- Serve as a resource and advocate for students, promoting inclusivity within the school community
