Grades 9 - 12 Grades 6 - 8 DHH Teacher | Middletown, New York
A school district in Middletown, NY is seeking a certified Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing to support students across grades K-12. This contract position begins immediately and is expected to continue through the remainder of the school year with possible extension. The role demands a dedicated professional passionate about empowering students with hearing loss to achieve academic success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction and support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in grades K-5, 6-8, and 9-12
- Manage a caseload of approximately 20-30 individual sessions per week
- Deliver services across multiple locations, ranging from 2 to 8 school sites within the district
- Collaborate with general education teachers, audiologists, and related service providers to create inclusive learning environments
- Assess student progress and adapt teaching methods to meet individual communication and educational needs
- Maintain accurate records and participate in IEP meetings as required
Qualifications:
- Must hold a valid New York State Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teaching Certificate
- Experience working with Deaf/Hard of Hearing students across elementary, middle, and high school levels is preferred
- Strong communication and organizational skills to effectively manage a caseload and multi-site responsibilities
- Ability to build rapport with students, families, and school teams
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (37.5 hours per week)
