DHH Teacher | Pearson, Georgia
Make a meaningful difference by supporting students as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing on a contract basis. This role centers on empowering children and adolescents with hearing loss to reach their full academic and social potential in educational settings. You’ll collaborate with general educators, families, and specialists to develop and implement individualized strategies that ensure access to learning for every student.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Hold a valid teaching certification specific to Deaf/Hard of Hearing education (state requirements apply)
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education or related field
- Experience in a school setting supporting students with hearing impairments
- Proficiency with assistive listening devices, FM systems, and current educational technology
- Strong understanding of ASL, Signed English, or other communication methods for the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and organizational abilities
- Ability to adapt instruction to meet individualized needs
- Comfortable working as part of a multidisciplinary team
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services for students who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing across grade levels
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), collaborating with students, parents, and colleagues
- Modify curriculum materials and classroom environments to ensure optimal access and engagement
- Support classroom teachers with accommodations and strategies for hearing-impaired learners
- Monitor student progress and provide regular updates to staff and families
- Promote self-advocacy and social-emotional development among students
- Offer training or guidance on hearing assistive technologies to staff and families as needed
