In this position, you’ll work as an itinerant professional, traveling between sites near Norfolk, VA. You’ll serve a diverse caseload, providing direct instruction aligned with IEP objectives, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and fostering the skills and independence essential for student success.

What we’re seeking:

  • Current Virginia Teacher of the Visually Impaired Certification
  • Experience teaching or supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Knowledge of ASL, auditory/oral training, total communication, and diverse instructional strategies
  • Skilled at adapting curriculum, materials, and environments for accessibility
  • Proficient in supporting students’ use of assistive listening devices and alternative communication systems
  • Commitment to a collaborative approach with families, general education staff, and related service providers
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

Your contributions will include:

  • Providing direct instruction across academic, communication, and life skill domains for K–12 learners
  • Creating, implementing, and monitoring individualized education programs in partnership with students’ teams
  • Supporting and teaching a range of communication modalities as appropriate to each student’s needs
  • Consulting with general education teachers on accommodations and inclusion strategies
  • Advocating for and supporting students’ self-advocacy and independence
  • Coordinating with audiologists, SLPs, and other specialists for hearing technology and support consistency
  • Monitoring student progress and refining instructional approaches based on assessment data

This is a full-time, 37.5 hours per week opportunity for the 2026-2027 school year with remote panel/casual interviews and streamlined onboarding. The district is recognized for its collaborative spirit, supportive leadership, and enthusiastic community of professionals.
