This itinerant, school-based contract position focuses on delivering consultative services districtwide for early childhood through transition-age students. Collaborate with staff and families to enhance communication access and success for learners who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid DHH (Deaf/Hard of Hearing) teaching credential and California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) certification
- Recent experience supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in educational settings
- Strong understanding of individualized education programs (IEPs) and ability to develop and implement appropriate accommodations
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and advocacy skills
- Comfortable working onsite and traveling between school locations
- Commitment to fostering inclusive, accessible environments for all students
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide consultative services across district schools (primarily in the Richmond area of San Francisco) as an itinerant DHH Teacher
- Support students from early childhood through post-secondary transition ages
- Advise and collaborate with general and special education staff, as well as families, to maximize student access and participation
- Conduct assessments, help create and update IEPs, and monitor student progress
- Deliver professional development or resources to staff as needed
- Ensure compliance with state and federal education standards
