Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TDHH) | Oakland, California
Exciting opportunity for a dedicated Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to work within a supportive, itinerant role for the upcoming school year. This contract position runs from August 11, 2026, through June 2, 2027, covering a districtwide caseload that primarily involves Early Childhood to Transition-age students. The assignment is based in the Richmond area of San Francisco, providing consultative services across multiple sites.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid California DHH teaching credential and active CTC required
- Demonstrated experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in educational settings
- Strong consultative and collaborative skills for supporting a districtwide caseload
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to liaise with multidisciplinary teams, staff, and families
- Ability to manage an itinerant schedule, traveling between multiple school sites as needed
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized direct and consultative instructional support to students with hearing impairments across a variety of schools
- Work collaboratively with site staff, administrators, and parents to create and implement individualized education plans
- Conduct assessments and contribute to IEP development and progress monitoring
- Provide professional development, coaching, and resources to staff on best practices for supporting DHH students
- Maintain thorough, timely documentation in compliance with district, state, and federal requirements
