Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university
- Valid Alabama Teacher’s Certificate
- Meets Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requirements at the federal and state level, or willingness to achieve them within the specified timeframe
- Holds, or is eligible to obtain, all necessary licensure for Deaf/Hard of Hearing instruction in Alabama
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing is preferred
- Ability to collaborate effectively with general and special education teams
- Strong communication, advocacy, and self-motivation skills
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a Hearing Impaired Teacher within the district
- Provide direct instruction and support to students who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Design and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs) tailored to students’ needs
- Facilitate communication between students, families, and school staff
- Participate actively in multidisciplinary meetings and collaborate closely with other DHH professionals
