Desired Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing (state-specific credentials preferred)
- Previous experience working with children who are deaf or hard of hearing in an educational setting
- Strong knowledge of current instructional techniques, assistive technology, and best practices for DHH students
- Familiarity with developing and implementing IEPs, progress monitoring, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent communication skills, including proficiency in ASL or other communication methods used by DHH students
- Ability to cultivate an inclusive, supportive classroom environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction for students who are deaf or hard of hearing, adapting lessons to each student’s needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to promote student success and inclusion
- Develop and monitor IEP goals, collecting ongoing data and updating educational plans as needed
- Serve as an advocate and resource for students and families, providing guidance on accommodations and communication strategies
- Utilize and integrate assistive technology and alternative communication methods to support student learning
