Step into a rewarding role supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing as an itinerant teacher for a full-time contract position beginning August 25th. You will be covering a maternity leave for 10-12 weeks, providing valuable services to students across a district’s schools in the Vancouver, WA region. Key Qualifications:
- Valid OSPI Certification with DHH (Deaf/Hard of Hearing) endorsement.
- Demonstrated experience working with students using cochlear implants and hearing aids.
- Familiarity with FM systems and proficiency supporting both FM and ASL-using students.
- Ability to consult and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary educational teams, families, and school staff.
- Organizational skills and flexibility for an itinerant schedule, adapting to different school environments.
- Commitment to fostering inclusive, accessible learning experiences for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative services to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in mainstream and specialized settings.
- Assess students’ needs, collaborate on IEP development, and implement individualized instructional strategies.
- Support classroom teachers and staff with accommodations, assistive technology, and communication methods.
- Advocate for students’ access to the curriculum through training and collaboration with faculty.
- Maintain accurate documentation, progress monitoring, and timely communication with educational teams and families.
