Desired Experience & Qualifications:
- Valid certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility for certification)
- Experience working with high school-aged students in an educational setting
- Proficiency in sign language (ASL, SEE, or signed English)
- Understanding of IEP development and implementation for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Ability to adapt instruction to varying individual needs
- Passion for fostering a supportive, inclusive learning environment
Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction to high school students with hearing loss, ensuring access to the full curriculum
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with the educational team
- Offer consultation and support to general education teachers and staff regarding adaptations and inclusion strategies
- Utilize technology, visual aids, and adaptive methods to enhance student engagement and learning
- Track student progress, maintain accurate records, and regularly communicate with families about goals and achievements
- Advocate for each student’s needs while promoting self-advocacy and independence
