Job Overview:
- We are seeking a licensed Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teacher to provide specialized educational services to students who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have hearing impairments throughout the 2026–2027 school year. The ideal candidate will support students' academic, communication, and social-emotional development while collaborating with educational teams, families, and related service providers to ensure meaningful access to the curriculum.
Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL).
- Deaf and Hard of Hearing endorsement or appropriate Illinois licensure to serve students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field.
- Knowledge of special education laws, procedures, and IEP development.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Description/Duties:
- Provide direct and consultative instructional services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Conduct ongoing assessments and monitor student progress toward educational goals.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, speech-language pathologists, audiologists, interpreters, and other support staff.
- Adapt instructional materials and classroom strategies to meet individual student needs.
- Support the development of communication skills, self-advocacy, and academic achievement.
- Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, multidisciplinary team meetings, and other school-related activities.
- Provide recommendations regarding accommodations, assistive listening devices, and classroom accessibility.
- Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with district, state, and federal special education requirements.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports student success.
