Make an impact supporting students as an ASL interpreter in a dynamic K-12 educational environment near Saint Paul, MN. This contract opportunity allows you to work closely with learners who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, ensuring full access to curriculum and school activities. This is a full-time, on-site position through late May 2027.
Qualifications:
- Certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) (such as RID-NIC or NAD IV/V) OR
- Score of 4.0 or higher on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA), along with passing the EIPA written exam
- Ability to communicate fluently in American Sign Language and interpret effectively in educational settings
- Proven experience working with K-12 students preferred
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and collaborative skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide interpretation and transliteration services for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing across all grade levels (K-12)
- Facilitate effective communication between students, educators, and peers in classrooms and school activities
- Support teacher instruction by interpreting spoken language into ASL and voicing student responses as needed
- Collaborate with special education teams and faculty to adapt materials or strategies for individual student success
- Ensure confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism at all times within the school setting
