In this essential role, you’ll collaborate closely with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, as well as teachers, to create accessible classroom environments and bridge language barriers. The position is full-time, on-site, and runs through May 28, 2027.
What You’ll Bring:
- Certification from the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID-NIC or NAD IV/V), or a minimum score of 4.0 on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) with the EIPA written exam
- Previous experience interpreting in educational settings, particularly K-12, is highly valued
- Demonstrated fluency in American Sign Language and a commitment to supporting Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
- Ability to collaborate with educational teams and adapt communication styles as needed
- Professionalism, strong interpersonal skills, and reliability in classroom environments
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct interpreting services for students, faculty, and staff in classroom and school activities, strictly on-site
- Facilitate clear, accurate, and culturally appropriate communication between Deaf/Hard of Hearing individuals and hearing peers or educators
- Work one-on-one and in group settings to support student learning and engagement
- Collaborate with special education staff to adapt materials and instructional strategies
- Maintain confidentiality, integrity, and a student-centered approach at all times
