Key Qualifications:
- Certification through the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) (such as RID-NIC or NAD IV/V), OR
- Score of 4.0 or higher on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) with a passing score on the EIPA written exam
- Proficiency in American Sign Language and a strong understanding of Deaf culture
- Experience working in K-12 educational settings preferred
- Ability to work onsite daily—remote options are not available for this position
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide interpreting services for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in classroom, small group, and individual settings
- Accurately convey spoken language into ASL and vice versa to facilitate clear and complete communication
- Collaborate effectively with teachers, special education staff, and administrators to optimize student participation in academic and extracurricular activities
- Maintain confidentiality and follow ethical standards in all interpreting assignments
- Support students’ access to instructional materials and social exchanges throughout the school day
