Make a meaningful impact in the lives of K-12 students by providing essential communication access as an on-site ASL interpreter for a school-based contract position near Burnsville, MN. You'll work closely with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, collaborating with educators and staff to foster an inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Hold a certification through the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), such as RID-NIC or NAD IV/V, or
  • Attain a score of 4.0 or higher on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA), plus a passing score on the EIPA written exam
  • Previous experience supporting Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in educational K-12 settings preferred
  • Knowledgeable in American Sign Language and Deaf culture
  • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work exclusively on-site (remote/voco arrangements are not permitted)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language and vice versa in classroom and school settings
  • Facilitate effective communication between students, staff, and peers
  • Support students during academic instruction, school-related activities, and meetings
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all professional ethical standards
  • Cooperate with instructional staff to help meet individual student needs
  • Adapt interpreting style and services according to educational content and student requirements
