Make an immediate impact supporting students as a skilled ASL Interpreter in a vibrant K-12 educational setting near Minneapolis, MN. This contract position provides a rewarding opportunity to work onsite within a diverse school community, collaborating closely with students and staff to ensure equitable access to classroom content for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. You’ll play an essential role as a language facilitator, empowering learners and contributing to a positive, inclusive learning environment.

Key Qualifications:

  • Certification through the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID-NIC or NAD IV/V), OR a minimum score of 4.0 on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) plus successful completion of the EIPA written exam.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language and interpreting/translating experience in educational settings.
  • Previous experience supporting students at the K-12 level is highly desirable.
  • Ability to foster positive relationships with students, teachers, and families.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide high-quality, onsite ASL interpretation for students across grade levels, ensuring access to academic instruction and school activities.
  • Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and families to support student learning goals.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional and ethical standards outlined for educational interpreters.
  • Adjust interpreting techniques as required to meet individual student needs and classroom dynamics.
  • Contribute to IEP meetings and documentation as needed.

This role offers a consistent weekly schedule with 35 onsite hours. You’ll be a valued educational partner, enhancing accessibility and promoting student success throughout the school year.
