Teacher of the Deaf in San Francisco, CA
Shape meaningful educational experiences for students as a Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in a dynamic, contract-based role for the upcoming school year. This position involves providing itinerant, consultative support across a district of diverse learners from Early Childhood through Transition-age programs in the San Francisco area. Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid California DHH (Deaf/Hard of Hearing) teaching credential and active CTC registration
- Previous experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, preferably in an itinerant or consultation role
- Strong knowledge of best practices for supporting access, language development, and inclusion for DHH students
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and consultation skills
- Ability to work independently while managing a districtwide caseload
- Commitment to culturally responsive and accessible teaching
Role Expectations and Duties:
- Provide consultative services and direct instruction for DHH students from Early Childhood through Transition
- Travel to various schools within the district to deliver services and collaborate with teams
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with district and state regulations
- Advise and support general educators, staff, and families on classroom and communication access
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, regular status reporting, and ongoing professional development
- Maintain up-to-date records and ensure regulatory compliance at all times
