Blazer Jobs is seeking a dedicated Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Teacher to join a school-based team in San Francisco, California. About the Position

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher to provide specialized instruction and support for students with hearing loss in a school-based setting. The ideal candidate will collaborate with educators, families, interpreters, audiologists, and multidisciplinary teams to develop individualized learning strategies that promote academic achievement, communication development, independence, and confidence.

Job Duties

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with student needs, goals, accommodations, and communication preferences
  • Provide specialized instruction for students who are deaf or hard of hearing across academic and functional areas
  • Utilize evidence-based instructional strategies to support language, literacy, communication, and academic development
  • Adapt curriculum, instructional materials, and assessments to ensure accessibility for students with hearing loss
  • Support students using appropriate communication methods, including spoken language, sign language, visual supports, and assistive technology as applicable
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, interpreters, audiologists, and families
  • Participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, and multidisciplinary team discussions
  • Monitor and document student academic, communication, and developmental progress
  • Provide consultation regarding accommodations, classroom accessibility, and instructional strategies
  • Maintain compliance with district, state, and federal special education requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field from an accredited institution
  • Valid California Education Specialist Instruction Credential with Deaf and Hard of Hearing authorization issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC), or eligibility to obtain credentialing
  • Appropriate California DHH credential authorization for the assigned student population
  • Knowledge of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), IEP development, and special education compliance requirements
  • Experience supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing preferred
  • Knowledge of communication methods, assistive technology, and accessibility strategies for students with hearing loss
  • Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work effectively with students, families, educators, and related service providers
  • Successful completion of required background screening and district onboarding requirements
