DHH Teacher | Sevierville, Tennessee
Empower students with hearing differences and make a daily impact as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing. Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education or Special Education (with appropriate endorsement)
- Valid state teaching certification for Deaf / Hard of Hearing students (or eligibility)
- Experience with a range of communication modalities, including ASL, spoken language, and assistive technology
- Adaptability in creating and modifying curriculum for diverse abilities
- Strong advocacy and communication skills to partner with interdisciplinary teams
- Prior school-based or pediatric experience is a plus
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction aligned with students’ IEP goals
- Develop and adapt lesson plans to accommodate hearing loss and communication needs
- Assess and monitor student progress, documenting outcomes and updating plans
- Collaborate regularly with general education teachers, support staff, and families
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
- Utilize appropriate amplification devices, technology, and resources
- Support students’ social and emotional development alongside their academic growth
