DHH Teacher | Portal, Georgia
Step into a rewarding contract position supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in a vibrant educational setting. This opportunity offers 20 hours per week, with an 18-student caseload spanning kindergarten to 12th grade. You'll collaborate with staff, students, and families, providing direct teaching and consulting to ensure each student’s needs are met. While in-person interaction is preferred for this role, there is flexibility for virtual (VOCO) options for the right candidate.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Certified Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, with experience in K-12 educational settings
- Ability to develop and implement individualized instructional strategies
- Familiarity with assistive technology and communication modalities (e.g., sign language, speechreading)
- Strong organizational skills to manage and track progress for a diverse caseload
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, educators, and families
- Ability to tailor instruction for various age groups, learning styles, and technological abilities
- Preference for candidates comfortable working in-person, but virtual candidates will also be considered
What You’ll Do:
- Develop and adapt curriculum for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students across multiple grade levels
- Deliver high-quality instruction—individually and in small groups—to foster academic and personal growth
- Work closely with teachers, administrators, and families to support student learning
- Implement IEP goals and document student progress
- Provide strategies and resources for staff and families
- Attend and contribute to team meetings, IEP reviews, and professional development
- Support students using a range of auditory, visual, and supplementary tools
