A contractual opportunity is available for a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing with expertise in telehealth services to support an early childhood (EC) caseload. This role is based in Benton Harbor, MI, and focuses on delivering specialized educational services to young learners with hearing impairments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction and support to children who are deaf or hard of hearing, specifically within an early childhood caseload.
- Utilize telehealth platforms to deliver effective remote educational services, adapting teaching methods to fit virtual environments.
- Collaborate with families, caregivers, and interdisciplinary teams to develop individualized education plans (IEPs) and implement strategies that promote language and communication development.
- Assess student progress regularly and adjust instructional strategies accordingly to meet individual needs.
- Serve as an advocate for students’ auditory and communication needs within educational settings.
Qualifications:
- Certified Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing with appropriate licensure.
- Experience working with early childhood students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Proficiency in telehealth technology and virtual instruction methods.
- Strong knowledge of auditory-verbal and/or total communication strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with children, families, and professionals.
