What You'll Do
As a Remote Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, you will:
Provide individualized virtual instruction and educational support for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
Develop instructional strategies that align with students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Support students' language, communication, literacy, academic, and self-advocacy skills
Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, speech-language pathologists, audiologists, interpreters, and families
Participate in IEP meetings and contribute recommendations for accommodations, modifications, and specialized services
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate service documentation
Consult with school teams on classroom accessibility, communication strategies, and hearing accommodations
Support students in the effective use of hearing technology and assistive listening devices
Utilize telepractice tools and virtual learning platforms to deliver engaging, student-centered instruction
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Education (Master's degree preferred)
Active Connecticut teaching certification or eligibility to obtain Connecticut certification
Endorsement or certification as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
Reliable high-speed internet connection and dedicated home office
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing
Experience providing virtual instruction or telepractice services
Knowledge of IEP development and special education regulations
Familiarity with hearing assistive technology and classroom accessibility supports
American Sign Language (ASL) proficiency is preferred but not required
Experience serving students across K–12 grade levels
