Qualifications and Experience:
- Current certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or equivalent
- Demonstrated fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Experience working within a school environment preferred
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to foster positive relationships among students, staff, and families
- Deep understanding of IEP development and implementation for students with hearing loss
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom culture
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging, individualized instruction to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in collaboration with school staff
- Facilitate communication access by utilizing ASL and other appropriate modalities
- Support general education teachers in adapting curriculum and classroom environments for accessible learning
- Participate in IEP meetings, assessments, and progress monitoring processes
- Advocate for students’ social, emotional, and academic needs
- Collaborate with families, service providers, and multidisciplinary teams to promote student success
