Qualifications and Experience:

  • Current certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or equivalent
  • Demonstrated fluency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Experience working within a school environment preferred
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to foster positive relationships among students, staff, and families
  • Deep understanding of IEP development and implementation for students with hearing loss
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom culture

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging, individualized instruction to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in collaboration with school staff
  • Facilitate communication access by utilizing ASL and other appropriate modalities
  • Support general education teachers in adapting curriculum and classroom environments for accessible learning
  • Participate in IEP meetings, assessments, and progress monitoring processes
  • Advocate for students’ social, emotional, and academic needs
  • Collaborate with families, service providers, and multidisciplinary teams to promote student success
