Key Qualifications:
- Completed training as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher of the Deaf
- Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL), able to communicate effectively with students and staff
- Experience supporting Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in educational or similar settings
- Strong understanding of assessment, instruction, and individualized education plans (IEPs) for Deaf/Hard of Hearing learners
- Comfortable working on-site and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
- Commitment to inclusivity, accessibility, and advocacy for students at all levels
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, adapting materials and strategies as needed
- Facilitate communication between students, general education staff, and families
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals, ensuring accommodations and modifications are met
- Work closely with other specialists, teachers, and support staff to foster an inclusive environment
- Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current on best practices in deaf education
- Collect and report data on student progress, making timely interventions as necessary
