Qualifications & Experience:
- State certification as a Teacher for the Deaf / Hard of Hearing (or eligibility)
- Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Previous experience working with deaf/hard of hearing students in a school setting preferred
- Ability to develop and implement IEPs (Individualized Education Plans)
- Strong collaboration skills for working with staff, families, and support teams
- Passionate about advocating for students' educational needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instructional support to deaf and hard of hearing students in classroom and individual settings
- Use ASL and other communication modalities tailored to student needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers and school staff to adapt curriculum and support access to instruction
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals
- Consult with families and staff to maximize student progress and success
- Support students with self-advocacy and social-emotional growth
