Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) - Chicopee, Massachusetts
Support student learning and success as a Deaf / Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher for the upcoming 2026/2027 school year. This contract-to-hire opportunity offers both full-time and part-time scheduling, with an on-site presence vital to fostering communication and inclusion for students. Your fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and expertise in supporting Deaf and Hard of Hearing learners will be central to empowering students and collaborating with educators and families.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is required
- Valid teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing, or eligibility to obtain
- Experience working with children or adolescents who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in an educational setting
- Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation
- Outstanding communication and collaboration skills
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Adapt and modify curriculum to meet individual student needs
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and families to ensure seamless student support
- Monitor student progress, participate in IEP meetings, and contribute to goal-setting
- Advocate for student access, participation, and communication within the school community
- Support the use of assistive technology and accommodations as appropriate
