Key Qualifications:
- Active DESE license required
- Background as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist and/or Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (ToDHH)
- Experience working within K-12 public school settings is highly desirable
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, families, and school staff
- Strong communication, organization, and advocacy skills
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or signed communication and familiarity with assistive technology a plus
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and services to Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in accordance with their individual education plans (IEPs)
- Assess student needs and adapt lesson materials for optimal access
- Provide consultation and support to general education staff, ensuring accommodations and modifications are implemented
- Monitor student progress, collect relevant data, and participate in IEP meetings
- Support students’ social-emotional needs and cultivate a positive, accessible classroom environment
- Maintain documentation and comply with state and federal special education requirements
- Engage families, offering resources and strategies to further student growth
