This contract role covers a diverse caseload, with assignments finalized prior to the start of the school year. You’ll become a valued resource for students, teachers, and families—helping empower communication, learning, and social growth.
Qualifications & Desired Background:
- Valid and current DESE licensure as required for Deaf/Hard of Hearing teaching positions
- Prior experience supporting Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in a school setting preferred
- Strong knowledge of best practices in Deaf education, auditory/verbal strategies, and accommodations
- Excellent communication skills, including sign language competency (ASL or Signed English), and experience with assistive hearing technology
- Collaborative and student-centered attitude, able to adapt teaching methods as needed
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and educational support to Deaf/Hard of Hearing students based on individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Collaborate with general and special education teachers to ensure accessibility and seamless inclusion in classroom environments
- Serve as an advocate for students’ communication needs, offering training and guidance to staff as required
- Participate in IEP meetings, student evaluations, and progress monitoring throughout the school year
- Maintain accurate documentation and communicate regularly with parents and multidisciplinary teams
