Remote Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing | New York
A part-time opportunity is available for a Teacher specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing students located in Wallkill, NY. This contract role involves providing consultative services primarily via telehealth to 4-5 students, ranging from elementary to high school levels. The position requires approximately 5 hours of service weekly, focusing on 30-minute sessions with each student alongside necessary documentation and paperwork.
Responsibilities include:
- Delivering instruction and support services aligned with each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP)
- Developing, implementing, and monitoring IEP goals tailored to hearing-impaired learners
- Collaborating to address the unique educational needs of students across elementary, middle, and high school levels
Preferred qualifications and experience:
- Current certification as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in New York State (PK–12)
- Proven experience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in an educational setting
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Knowledge of hearing technology including FM/DM systems, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), or cochlear implant support
