DHH Teacher | Poughkeepsie, New York
Seeking dedicated professionals with expertise in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education for two full-time contract opportunities serving students in the PreK–12 age range. Utilize your specialized training as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing to foster accessible and inclusive learning environments. You’ll collaborate closely with general educators and specialists to provide tailored instruction that helps every student reach their full potential. Working Monday through Friday, 8:00 am–2:40 pm, you’ll play a crucial role in shaping educational outcomes for students in need of your expertise.
Qualifications / Desired Experience:
- Valid certification or credentials for teaching Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
- Experience supporting PreK–12 learners with varying levels of hearing needs
- Proficiency in American Sign Language and/or other modes of communication for DHH students
- Strong collaboration skills with students, families, and multi-disciplinary teams
- Ability to adapt curriculum to individual learning goals
- Commitment to fostering a positive and accessible classroom environment
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver individualized instruction aligned with each student’s IEP
- Assess student progress, track achievements, and adjust teaching strategies accordingly
- Foster language, academic, and social-emotional growth among DHH students
- Collaborate with colleagues and parents to maximize student engagement and success
- Maintain accurate and timely student documentation
- Contribute to a culture of inclusivity and respect
