Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Newburgh, NY
Transform the educational experience for students as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in a PreK-12 setting. Two full-time positions are currently available on a contract basis, with immediate start dates and contracts running through June 6, 2027. This role focuses on providing direct educational services and support to students with hearing challenges, helping foster both academic achievement and personal growth.
Key Qualifications:
- Current certification or licensure in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education (or eligibility)
- Experience working with students from PreK through 12th grade preferred
- Solid understanding of assistive hearing technologies and alternative communication strategies
- Strong collaboration skills for working with families, specialists, and general education teachers
- Commitment to inclusive, student-centered instructional methods
Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement individualized and group instruction aligned with students’ IEPs
- Provide language development and auditory training tailored to student needs
- Partner closely with classroom teachers to adapt curriculum and foster accessibility
- Advocate for student needs within the school community and among team members
- Keep accurate, timely records and contribute to student progress reviews
- Maintain regular, effective communication with families regarding student progress and strategies
Details:
- Two full-time openings, contract from start date through June 6, 2027
- Monday through Friday schedule, 8:00 am to 2:40 pm
- Serve students across the PreK-12 grade span
- Focus on general Deaf/Hard of Hearing educational duties
