Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher - New Paltz, NY

Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility for such certification)
- Experience supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ideally in a school environment
- Proficiency with sign language and alternative communication strategies
- Strong commitment to inclusive education and individualized student success
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, families, and related service providers
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver engaging instruction and support to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, tailored to a range of grade levels from PreK through grade 12
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and learning strategies in partnership with school teams
- Foster a welcoming, accessible classroom atmosphere conducive to language acquisition and social-emotional growth
- Monitor and assess student progress, making adjustments as needed
- Consult regularly with teachers, interpreters, counselors, and parents to optimize student outcomes
- Adhere to the Monday–Friday schedule from 8:00 am to 2:40 pm
