Teacher of the Deaf in Wappingers Falls, NY

Two full-time contract positions are available, beginning as soon as possible and continuing through June 6, 2027.
As a teacher specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education, you'll engage students in meaningful learning experiences, adapt curriculum, and provide valuable support across various grade levels. This Monday through Friday position offers structured school-day hours from 8:00 am to 2:40 pm, allowing for work-life balance while making a significant difference in the lives of students.
Qualifications:
- Certification or eligibility as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing (T.D.D.H.H. or equivalent)
- Experience working with PreK-12 students in educational settings
- Strong communication skills in American Sign Language (ASL) and written English
- Ability to collaborate effectively with general education teachers, families, and related service providers
- Knowledge of assistive listening devices and technology supports for deaf/hard of hearing students
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction tailored to individual student needs
- Adapt and develop lesson plans that foster language development, academic growth, and social-emotional well-being
- Participate in IEP meetings, student evaluations, and progress monitoring
- Advocate for student access and accommodations within the general education environment
- Maintain documentation and communicate regularly with families and staff
