Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher - Vero Beach, Florida
Exciting opportunity for a skilled professional specializing in education for Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students. This contract position offers the chance to make a significant impact across multiple K-12 schools situated on Florida’s scenic southeast coast. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring that students with hearing needs receive the services and support essential for their academic growth.
What We’re Seeking:
- Valid and active Florida Department of Education (DOE) teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing.
- Experience or certification as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing is required.
- Comfort providing itinerant services throughout multiple locations.
- Familiarity with educational needs spanning kindergarten through high school.
- Experience coordinating or performing functional listening evaluations (FLEs) and Usher screenings is a plus.
- Ability to collect and upload audiological documentation using systems such as PEER.
- Must be able to pass fingerprint clearance (potential acceptance of DOH prints if available).
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver DHH services to students of varying ages and grade levels across multiple assigned sites.
- Support FLEs and Usher screenings throughout the district.
- Gather and organize audiological evaluations, ensuring timely upload into district systems.
- Collaborate with school staff and families to promote student success.
- Travel to assigned locations throughout the district as needed.
- Maintain accurate records and strictly adhere to district and state guidelines.
