Qualifications/Desired Experience:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
- Knowledge of current best practices in deaf education and accessible instructional strategies
- Familiarity with various communication modalities, including American Sign Language, lip reading, assistive technologies, and auditory/oral approaches
- Experience assessing student needs and developing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, parents, and other educators
- Strong organizational and communication skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and support to Deaf/Hard of Hearing students, aligning educational plans to individual needs
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in cooperation with students, families, and school staff
- Adapt curriculum materials and provide classroom modifications to foster inclusion and academic success
- Advocate for students’ needs and help facilitate their participation in school activities
- Maintain thorough documentation of student progress and communicate regularly with all stakeholders
- Participate in ongoing professional development activities to stay current on best practices
