This position is based in the Binghamton, NY area and will follow the school calendar for the 2026/2027 academic year (specific dates to be confirmed). You'll join a supportive environment that values expertise in deaf education and dedication to student growth.
Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (TDHH) or eligibility for state certification
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in an educational setting
- Knowledge of various communication methods, including sign language and auditory-oral approaches
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with staff, students, and families
- Familiarity with developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and accessible learning environment
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Adapt curriculum and teaching methods to meet individual student needs
- Work as part of interdisciplinary teams to monitor progress and update IEPs
- Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure accommodations are in place
- Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers regarding student progress
- Maintain accurate documentation and comply with all school and state regulations
