Qualifications and Skills:
- Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
- Experience (student teaching or professional) working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in educational settings
- Proficient in using assistive listening devices and adaptive technology
- Strong communication skills—both spoken and sign language proficiency preferred
- Collaborative, flexible, and dedicated to meeting diverse student needs
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction in language and academic subjects, adapting materials to meet individual education plans (IEPs)
- Foster accessible classroom environments by supporting use of FM systems and other assistive devices
- Partner with classroom teachers, speech-language pathologists, and other support staff to promote inclusion and student success
- Monitor student progress, maintaining detailed records and reporting outcomes to educational teams and families
- Participate in IEP meetings, contributing expertise to help shape appropriate goals and accommodations
- Advocate for student access, ensuring equal participation and engagement across curricular and extracurricular activities
