Qualifications & Skills:
- Valid teaching certification with a specialization in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
- Demonstrated experience working with elementary school students, preferably in a mainstream classroom or similar environment
- Strong knowledge of educational accommodations, assistive technology, and American Sign Language (ASL)
- Ability to develop and adapt lesson plans for students with hearing impairments
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities when working with teachers, families, and service providers
- Passion for creating inclusive, accessible learning experiences
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction and tailored educational support to an assigned elementary student who is Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Implement and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs), ensuring successful academic and social development
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers and related service staff to integrate support and accommodations
- Continually assess, monitor, and report on student progress and make instructional adjustments as necessary
- Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment that enhances student confidence and independence
- Engage families in the educational process and serve as a knowledgeable resource for hearing loss and related strategies
