Desired Skills and Experience:
- Valid certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education (state-specific credentials required)
- Experience teaching students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ideally at the elementary level
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication methods used in deaf education
- Strong collaboration and communication skills when working with families, paraprofessionals, and other educators
- Ability to assess student needs and adapt curriculum to support individual learning goals
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans for each student on your caseload
- Provide direct instruction tailored to students’ language and communication needs
- Adapt classroom materials and teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles
- Utilize assistive technology and resources to support student success
- Track and report student progress, maintaining thorough and accurate documentation
